"Oh, okay. No pressure or anything, right?" he said as he glanced between the two of them. But why not? He'd followed them all the way out here; he might as well try something.
"Don't ... no. I see you, there, about to laugh at me," he said as he pointed to Lily.
"Sorry," she murmured. "But you do realize you make the most ridiculous faces when you're about to cast."
Dave spluttered and looked to Balthazar. "Back me up here. I do not ... make faces when I ... it's ... I have to concentrate." He shook himself out, rolled his shoulders, and cleared his mind by ignoring the fact that Lily was now pressing her cheek against Balthazar's shoulder, presumably so he wouldn't see her laughing.
Focusing on the magic, on the molecules, he willed another layer of quieting magic over the two already there, twisting it a little to give the dome a blue cast so everyone could see it.
