"More."

Simon glanced over and he shook his head. "If I give you anymore, it'll kill you."

"I don't care."

"I care. And Mal cares. I also happen to care a little bit about what he'll do to me if I overdose you on painkillers and you die."

"I don't care."

Simon tried not to smile, because he could only imagine the pain she was in, and he did feel sympathy for that. "I'm maintaining my stance on caring," Simon said. "I can ... get you some ice to put on your head, but I think you're just going to have to sleep this one off."

Jaime snorted. "You just like me sleeping in here," she grumbled petulantly.

"Yes," Simon agreed solemnly. "I'm doing everything in my power to keep you a prisoner here. I missed you when you were gone."

"Sadist," she muttered as she pressed the heel of her hand against her closed eyelids. She'd tried to find an escape once, very early on, and it had knocked her on her ass. This was ... worse. So much worse. And it hadn't stopped since she'd found the armor. Walking was completely out of the question. Her balance was shot. Light felt like needles jabbing right into her brain. Moving made her head throb like a heavy-metal garage band was moshing in her skull.

Overall, she was having a great time. "Ice then," she muttered. "If it'll help."

"It'll numb things a little," he said. "Dull some of the throbbing probably."

Jaime whined.

Simon sucked in his cheeks and started out of the infirmary to go get some ice for Jaime.

Mal stopped abruptly just outside the infirmary when he almost collided into Simon who was on his way out. He arched a brow as he regarded the doctor.

"You're not skippin' out on your duties now, are ya?" He greeted as he arched his brows in mock concern. Well, he was concerned about Jaime, but not about Simon trying to run out on them. He knew the doctor was all honorable and probably fearful of his life if he didn't take proper care of Jaime.

"How's she doin'?" He added as he craned his neck to peer into the infirmary. He half wondered if they'd hidden the armor like that because they knew Jaime would find it and hurt herself, but that was probably a paranoid thought. He wasn't sure they were really picking on individuals so much as picking on everyone.

Simon paused and glanced up to Mal upon their near-collision. "Not at all," he assured Mal. "I just needed a moment away from the incessant complaints."

He grinned as he heard Jaime snort at that. "I was just on my way to get her some ice for her headache. She's already had all the drugs I think her system can manage, though they may not be of much use if her pain is tied to her ... ability."

He shrugged slightly to that. "If you can put up with the swears and whines, I suppose you could visit her for a bit." As if Simon could stop him. As if that would deter Mal if he wanted to visit the girl.

Mal made a thoughtful noise as he nodded. He of course had no idea what her system could handle or how the pain being tied to her ability might affect that, but he usually didn't understand half the things Simon said when he was in doctor mode ... or when he was in Simon mode, for all that. Jaime was in pain, that was what it came down to.

"Well, thanks, doc. Your permission means so much to me," he clapped the other male on the shoulder as he moved past him and into the infirmary, making his way over to Jaime's bedside.

"Hey, darlin'," he greeted softly. He thought asking how she was or how she was feeling would only rack him up some punches in the future when she was feeling better.

Jaime groaned. That was about the only response she had to anything just then. "I knew they were going to do this to me," she muttered. She very carefully, very slowly rolled over. She drew her arm away from her eyes briefly, peering at him through squinted eyes and dark lashes before she closed her eyes again.

"Like, crippled me enough that I could point everyone, but ... it didn't knock me out like trying to find the way out did." She sighed. "Sucks."

She stretched a little before she curled up into a more comfortable position. "How're they doing with the finding and fetching and everything else?"

Mal watched her careful movements. He didn't like feeling useless, but he knew the doctor was doing all he could to make her feel better and it wasn't as if Mal had some secret medical powers that would help.

"Think they're doing pretty good. Everyone seems pretty busy. Figure I'll head out and help soon, but I wanted to see how you were doin' first," he replied. He didn't imagine she'd really want to have long conversations at the moment anyway, so helping to find the armor that would hopefully keep the bears from killing them sounded like a good use of his time.

"How long do you reckon you'll be laid up?"

"Simon won't give me more drugs," she pointed out, pouting a little. Not that she really thought it would help. This was something that would go away after all the armor was found, probably. Most likely. She'd just have to hobble out and have a look at it once it was all gathered.

"When it's all found. It's ... it's what happens when I can't ... get to what I'm trying to find. Not usually so sudden, or so bad, but ..." she reasoned their kidnappers had something to do with that. "Didn't expect it to be easy. It never is."

She lifted one hand to beckon him over. If he was going to go back out, she at least wanted a kiss first. "Think there's sleepy stuff in these," she muttered. She ... was getting kind of tired of sleeping in the infirmary, surprisingly enough.

"Reckon I should shoot him?" He asked, arching his brows. Not that that would help find the armor, so he imagined the most useful thing he could do was go out there and help look for it. Moving closer to her, he leaned over and pressed a soft kiss to her lips.

"You should rest then and we'll work on findin' on the armor to get you feelin' better ... and to keep from gettin' eaten by bears, but I figure that's just a plus," he teased with a light smirk as he gazed down at her.

"Anythin' else I can do b'fore I go?" He offered, but he figured Simon had her well taken care of for the moment.

Jaime returned his kiss softly before she shook her head. "I guess not. Come in when you're done? I'll probably be asleep, but ..." she shrugged. It would still be nice to wake up to him in the room. He hadn't been back long enough for her to be comfortable with him not being there when she woke up.

But then, she wasn't sure -- in this place, anyway -- there was such thing as 'long enough' to make her relax in that regard. She was scared when she woke up alone, at least until she saw he was still here.

"Have fun saving us from bears," she said as she managed to smile at him before curling up on her side, covering her head once more.
