RP: The Grand Finale
Characters: Everyone is welcome to react please. Add your tags
Time/Date: 9:15 PM, October 15. Earthquake: 6.8 (duration: 23 seconds)
Location: Everywhere
Warnings/Rating: none
Summary: The earth shakes, rattles, and rolls
Status: Complete

At roughly 9:14 PM, a crash can be heard outside. Shortly after that, the earth starts to tremor. It's slow at first, more a vibration than anything else, but it grows quickly and steadily into a full-on shaking quake. The entire building shifts and trembles. Water sloshes over the pool. There's a loud crack from somewhere within the building; perhaps its the very foundation or simply one of the supports in one of the walls. One of the 9th story windows cracks and pops out.

Things close to the edges of shelves fall. Paintings and other decorations might fall off the walls.

A couple of the deck chairs near the pool edge wind up in the pool.

Some sodas in the convenience store pop open and fizz all over. Cans fall from shelves and generally the store looks like -- get this -- an earthquake hit it. Same with the hardware store and the mall.

As the quake winds down, there are three aftershocks:

The first is roughly 30 seconds after the end of the quake, a 3.4.
The second is five minutes after that, a 4.5.
The third is 27 minutes later, a 3.6.

And then, the earthquakes have stopped for good.

Lee was in the shower when it all started. His reflexes were quick, but those quick reflexes were based around the ground remaining steady. Soaped up and slick, his hands were not much use for steadying himself against the shower walls, and he fell.

Ow. Owowow.

His elbow had connected with the edge of the bathtub on the way down, but it did not seem to be broken. Still hurt, though. He waited until it seem to have passed to get up again and start rinsing off. Another one came along not too much later, but it was nothing compared to the first one, and he didn't even stagger that time.

Then, when he was drying off, another one. Stronger than the last, but nothing compared to that first one. And that was quite enough excitement for one night. He had to be up early to train, after all, so it was time for bed.

Trini had been meditating on her bed when the first earthquake hit. The teen was not exactly expecting it and she ended up tossed violently onto the floor with a loud THUD. The dolls that had made the trip with her ended up scattered all the room.

"That was quite the opposite of peaceful." Trini started to push herself back up when another earthquake hit. This caused her to meet the carpet rather close-up for the second time that evening. "Aftershocks."

She decided to stay seated on the floor for a little longer while the next couple of aftershocks came and went, bracing herself when she felt the earth shake again. Once an hour came and went without the passage of any more earthquakes, the woman stood up again and climbed into bed to rest.
