For a moment, he thought he was dreaming. It was a nightmare because Corey was screaming. His eyes snapped open, heart pounding as he tried to get a handle on what was happening, why it was happening.
"Hey, hey, I'm here," Roland answered as he sat up, wrapping his arms around her to attempt to draw her towards him. It wasn't out of the ordinary for his sister to have nightmares, but this seemed like an especially violent reaction. At this point, though, he had no idea that it was anything other than that.
He did briefly look around to make sure there was no intruder in their room. He didn't see anyone, but he still felt a rush of adrenaline from being pulled out of sleep like that.
