Severus watched, smiling still, as she searched for the wires and then grasped the book out of the air. There was an undeniable light in her eyes, until ... a few seconds later, her face fell. He anticipated her making some erroneous assumption as to how he could have done that without magic, and he mentally prepared himself for that. What she actually said, however -- or asked, rather -- threw him for a loop. At least initially.
"No, I'm afraid I don't," he answered with a slight shake of his head, frowning in confusion, though he did think he had managed to follow her train of thought belatedly. Such things were clearly not possible in the world with which she was familiar, so she might have been in another world. Hence, the question.
His eyebrows rose at her next question, since they had switched back to the previous topic with surprising rapidity. "It's a wand, yes, and no, I can't. Some spells, yes, but not that one. By and large, wandless magic is exceedingly difficult." Which made him admire Magius all the more, of course. But even if he was sitting on the same bench where they had taken their breaks between Patronus lessons, he ... really didn't want to think about Magius just now.
