He turned at the greeting, and offered a small smile to the young lady; a friendly voice was always welcome. A tilt of his head, "Ah, good evening," he began as he turned, but he moved to avoid being in anyone's way should they wish to enter or exit the room.
"I have not," he continued, pleased to note that she at least seemed friendly enough. Of course that could change, but for now at least there was hope that the situation as it had been described to him had not jaded others, making them keep to themselves entirely.
"I have only recently arrived, and only to discover that this place is far from what I had become accustomed to at home- and you, Miss? Are you from here, or have you been brought also?" he asked as he clasped his hands behind his back. No point in looking too terribly lost; it seemed they knew well enough who the new people seemed to be.
