Lily smiled a little when she saw his expression, the way he was staring. "I ... see you noticed I went missing for a few days?" Still, the walk between James' room and here hadn't been that long, and she knew she hadn't worked her expression into anything resembling neutral. She knew her eyes likely looked as though she'd been crying -- mostly because she had been.
"I just ... wanted to see you in person. Let you know I was back in case you thought ... Jaime's post was a trick or ... if you hadn't seen it yet," she continued somewhat awkwardly. Ever since James had shown up, she knew she'd unfairly slighted Balthazar, and she wondered what sort of opinion he had of her just now. But she hadn't felt right fooling around with him while James was here, so ... she imagined he thought she'd lost interest. Which was completely the opposite of the case, of course, but he had no way to know that.
She parted her lips to continue her awkward babbling before she lifted a hand to wipe her cheeks again and decided to just ... see how he reacted first before continuing on with any attempt to explain anything.
