"Missing, yes. I ... heard that this morning," Lily said softly as she let herself into James' room. "I ... was completely unaware I'd been anywhere but my bed so it was a bit of a surprise when Jaime all but tackled me this morning when I went downstairs."
She studied him but ... no, still young. Too young. Part of her wondered if she wasn't simply using that as a convenient excuse to do what she thought she wanted to do, and then she had to wonder if she'd become that person in the months she'd been here.
But she loved James. Her James, her older James who had matured. Not this James. Not the still in school James who hadn't yet grown up.
"How ... how ... are you doing?" she said softly as she moved his desk chair around to settle herself into it. She didn't know how long this would take, but she should be comfortable, shouldn't she?
