RP: I Have Just Met You... Characters: Kirk, Dug, open Time/Date: Morning, June 23 Location: Outside Warnings/Rating: TBD - likely none Summary: Dug makes a friend Status: Open, Ongoing
Kirk was starting to come to the unfortunate conclusion that this time, for once, he had not been attacked and abducted by aliens.
He really didn't think anyone would strictly blame him for believing that to be the case - two years into their five year mission and he'd already been attacked and abducted more times than he could count - but this time... was different. There was no probing, no imprisonment per say, and there were a whole lot of people who were in the same predicament as he was, if the message boards and people he'd encountered were anything to base that on.
People from... all sorts of timeframes. He'd met a guy that was supposed to be from the year 2500-something, and he was going to leave it to smarter people than he to figure out the stardates 300 years in the future. And this guy seemed more backwater than he was. But he suspected it was a colonization issue - some of the terraformed planets did go back to more traditional methods of living when they set out to colonize.
He'd taken to... sort of pacing the white line. He'd gone around most of the.. whatever this place was, tracing the line. It didn't seem all that big, but it was big enough that he could waste some time. He'd been messing with the device they'd given him to communicate with. He'd already taken it apart, learning that there were all sorts of features that he could put to good use if he could code the right programs for it. But he wasn't really sure where he should start with such outdated technology.
It was then that he noticed a golden retriever who was sniffing along up ahead in his path. He watched it somewhat warily as it sniffed along, oblivious to the fact that it might be in danger, getting closer and closer to the white line in it's path.
He knew it was just a dog. It didn't get it. But he wasn't interested it watching it be eviscerated, or dropped in acid, or eaten by a wild animal, so he whistled sharply and knelt down to call the animal to him, stepping away from the line.
Dug, of course, responded immediately to the calls, barreling over and leaping up onto Kirk enthusiastically, trying to lick at his face.
"Hey buddy," Kirk said with a grin, ruffling Dug's ears somewhat affectionately. "What's your name?" he was not expecting an answer, at all, and was thoroughly bewildered when he got one.
"My name is Dug!" Dug said cheerfully. "You called me over and I came over to see you, because I love you! I have just met you but I love you! Will you be my Master? I asked Jaime but she said that I needed to find someone else to be my Master, and I love you and you should be my Master! Please? Please please please?"
Kirk was doing a lot of staring now, and glanced around him with a call of, "Did anyone else just hear that, or am I going nuts?"
