He nodded, surrendering to that particular topic. It was a nasty business, future telling. Particularly for the mortals. He'd seen all too many of them succumb to the dreaded 'what if' and he supposed there were probably more pleasant topics to speak about. But he hadn't felt comfortable simply slipping past it without comment when she'd brought it up, but was thankful when the conversation eased on to topics that could be discussed without the mention of death.
"The same subjects have always intrigued me as well," he said with a smile. "Pushing the limits of a spell, seeing what alterations can be made before it loses its original shape entirely and takes on a new role. I take particular fascination in merging the offensive with the defensive. A shield that traps your attacker, for example, and any spells he - or she - casts would be reflected back to them. I... was making some progress with that back home." He suspected though that he had likely dropped it in favour of assisting Dave when he'd gotten out of the urn, though there was no reason he couldn't resume his attempts here.
"And I wouldn't dream of assuming that you ever miscast," he said with a teasing smile.
He watched with curiosity as she reached for one of his locks of hair, staring at her fingers as she tugged on it before returning his gaze to her face. He wasn't... certain how he was meant to react to this situation. Should he take that as an invitation to touch her as well, or was this merely her way of demonstrating her friendship? He supposed he'd answer her question and wait and see, "I'll admit that I haven't really given in much thought in recent years, and it has become mildly unruly. Are you suggesting you think it may look better tied back?" he asked, a hint of amusement in his voice.
