Lily was easily distracted as well, and she shook her head to his statement. Part of her wanted to ask what sort of responsibilities, wanted to know who he was working for, and a very large part of her didn't want the answer to that.
"There's no way back," she said softly. "And they mean the bit about not crossing the line," she informed him. "One person tried it and wound up in ... some sort of acid. They've also managed to find a way to block ... aspects of people's powers and even magic. Which is why I think the silencing charms aren't actually malfunctioning ... they're just being blocked by whoever's done this."
It seemed impossible, and Lily would honestly like to know how they could block certain aspects while leaving others intact.
Lily regarded him for a long moment, her lips parting as she drew breath to speak before thinking better of it. She'd help him the same as she would any other person who'd come here, but she was just going to leave the past alone.
