RP: Brewing, maybe? Characters: Lily and Severus Time/Date: Sept. 1, after dinner Location: Room 215 Warnings/Rating: TBD Summary: Methinks more talking than brewing Status: Complete
The word 'nervous' didn't even begin to describe what he was feeling, just now. Severus only hoped that Lily wouldn't think his absence at dinner meant he wanted to call this off. Because nothing could be further from the truth. It was just that the very thought of food sickened him, at this precise moment. His stomach was every bit as agitated as a boiling cauldron, and he didn't think he'd even be able to keep down tea, to be honest. Supper was quite out of the question.
Lily's message, of course, left no doubt in his mind that she had heard the conversation with Dumbledore, even if he wasn't entirely sure where seeing came into the equation. Unless she meant she'd seen the entry on the network? But that was unimportant. The important thing was ... what he was going to say to her. And, to be perfectly frank, he had no idea. Even after spending seventeen years apologizing to old photos and wishing he could convey just how sorry he was -- hoping that wherever she was, she could hear him ... now, his mind was a blank.
Perhaps ... perhaps he simply ought to let her ask him questions and answer them to the best of his ability. That seemed liked the best approach, actually -- to let her guide the conversation, because she knew what she wanted to know. And he ought to simply be grateful that she was bothering to talk to him at all, considering. In fact, he wouldn't blame her if she merely hexed him when he answered the door. He deserved it, after all, and he wouldn't even raise his wand to defend himself.
And speaking of, he looked up from the conjured ingredients he'd laid out when he heard the knock on his door. Severus took a deep breath, steeling himself, and even set down his wand on the desk before he went to answer. Though he did look out of the peephole, first, to make certain it was indeed Lily. No need to be stupid, in case Bellatrix had decided she wanted to take his obvious disloyalty to the Dark Lord out of his hide.
