"Ohhh," she could have collapsed in her relief. "Oh, s'that all? I knew that. Mal'n River are from the future too, and I reckon Jayne's well. Dunno why I ain't, but..." she bit her lip. "We got t'talkin', me'n the Cap'n. He got talkin' 'bout Miranda? Didn' want t'say much at firs', but he spilled eventually." She closed her eyes. "All them folks... s'hard t'believe. An' poor River, havin' t'keep it a secret..." she shook her head. "She don't talk 'bout it much. Or mayhaps tha's jus' with me, 'cause I wasn't there. Walked off mutterin' 'bout Wash, or Book or..." she held up air quotes. "'Mean t'say,'" Kaylee sighed. "Figured that was normal, f'r her?" The last part was a genuine question - Simon would know, after all, whether that was something to worry about, or just River being River.
She smiled at him fondly - he really was cute. She was still of the mind that this was the only issue he had to talk about, and he'd been so nervous...
"So no need to fuss, Simon," she said. "Cap'n's already beat y'to it."
