RP: Didymus has been 'shopping' Characters: Sir Didymus and OPEN Time/Date: August 27, late afternoon Location: Outside the Hotel Warnings/Rating: TBD Summary: He's found some food. Status: Player drop
Very little in the way of rodents or lizards, and virtually no bird life to speak of. But there were humans here. Didymus could smell them, and they required much more in the way of food than he and Ambrosius. There must have been some way for them all to subsist.
Though his nose was always good for sniffing out a rabbit, Didymus found that he wasn't quite certain which of the odors in this place would have been something appetizing to humans. Apart from the peach Hoggle had given Lady Sarah, that was. So he tried, for a few days in fact, to locate a hint of peach anywhere nearby, which might herald other foodstuffs, but he hadn't much luck.
Finally, he caught a whiff of something on the breeze, and the whimper Ambrosius gave said he had noticed the aroma, too. Meat! It didn't smell entirely fresh, and there were other smells underlying it, but it was most certainly meat. The smell led him to another building, and inside the building, a sack. Or several sacks. Some were smaller than he, and others looked to weigh nearly as much as Ambrosius. And though everything within him railed against the theft, neither he nor his steed could afford to starve.
The sacks did say 'dog food', however, and if it was good enough for Ambrosius, it would be good enough for him.
It seemed unfair to saddle Ambrosius with one of the larger sacks, and indeed he might faint under the weight. So, one of the smaller sacks would have to do. After they had regained their strength, they could come back for one of the larger ones. Didymus heaved the thing into the saddle, and then led his mount back toward the hotel. They would not tear into the sack there, like savages. Hungry though they may be, they still had their dignity.
