"Because," Simon said. "I'm not sure I trust you not to take all of them in one gulp and I don't have anything to pump your stomach with." He glanced to Jaime to make sure she understood; he wasn't completely certain that he trusted her not to give in to Mal if the captain started to ... well, whine. He hadn't been here long, but he'd been here long enough to have caught a little better to what River had meant when she'd said Jaime was Mal's.
"Once you get him settled somewhere comfortable, he can have two," Simon emphasized. "He'll probably get a little drowsy, and you ... should get yourself some rest, too," he pointed out to her.
"Okay," Jaime agreed before she pocketed the thing of pills. She knew she should sleep, but she was still unwilling to leave Mal. But ... maybe once he was asleep, she'd go. It was just down the hall, right?
She eased an arm around his middle, suddenly aware of how much bigger than her he was, and what happened if he did fall over? She wasn't strong enough to pick him up, she didn't think, but she guessed she'd just see how it went. Maybe they'd be okay.
Assuming he was ready, she started to lead him toward the door, trying to find a pace that was comfortable for him to match, but not so incredibly slow as to be compared to a snail.
Kyle smiled to River before he glanced to Simon. "I am ready," he assured River. "If you are ready?" He tilted his head curiously to her before turning his gaze again to Simon.
Simon watched Mal and Jaime, catching sight of River and Kyle, and he wondered if he was ready for this. "River," he said, putting on a smile. "Introduce me to your friend."
