RP: Guns and Ammo Anyone?
Characters: Parker, Jayne
Time/Date: Evening, August 15
Location: Lobby to start

Summary: Parker goes for a weapons/ammo grab with backup from Jayne
Status: Private, ongoing



After spending most of the day casing her target in the mall Parker came back to the hotel long enough to stock up and change into more suiting attire for tonight's adventure. She had spoken with people via the network and just needed to meet up with Jayne and get weapons exacts from people as she quickly pulled on black jeans and a matching top along with sneakers and her rappelling gear (she figured it may come in handy). After tucking her stun gun into the pocket and finding a large bag for tonight's prize (rifles and grenades) she headed into the lobby to wait for Jayne since she could hear Nate's voice in her head,"Backup at all times Parker", after a near miss on a side job.

"I'm so ready for this, the perfect cure after that awful dress among other things" she mused under her breath. She then flipped open her device to see about weapons and ammo specs people needed,"Note to self: since people are finding ammo see about a power source for tazer number two" thinking of the high powered model she uses on jobs for protection.

Jayne, while a thief, was more the sticking people up or dropping onto trains or stealthing into hospitals sort of thief rather than the sneaky black-clothed equipped with glass cutters or technology sort of thief. So when he caught sight of Parker all decked out in black, he kind of grinned a little.

"What're we sneakin' around?" he inquired. That made him wonder if there were guards or ... defenses like laser triggers or some other sort of alarm systems. He hadn't exactly asked.

Then he decided it didn't matter; he was just the hired gun. He patted the one at his hip, wishing they'd come across his ammo already, but he hadn't seen it on the table when he'd looked earlier. Maybe it would show up eventually, or maybe it had been found and just not put out yet. Either way, he was confident there'd be some.

"Old habits for me" Parker cracked a very rare smile for her these days. "Plus I have a feeling if this is anything like most jobs there's going to be lazers or something to get past in order to get the guns" she explained. She passed over the growing ammo list,"I know most of these but you know any of the others? Also got a request to keep an eye out for shotguns and ammo for a WW2 era gun of all things".

But the blonde looked very ready to get some revenge after the last little while and what better way than to steal weapons.

Jayne grunted slightly. Would they even bother with alarms? He thought it would be kind of a laugh if they got there and all they had to do was pop the case open to get to the goods, no sneaking involved. But he hadn't been out to look at it, so he didn't know what they were up against. Maybe she had the right of it, but he thought it'd be a dick move on their captor's part if that was the case.

But what had they done lately that wasn't foul?

"Right, ain't gonna get anything done standin' around here. Lead on," he encouraged her even as he started toward the door.

Parker nodded as they walked towards the mall,"Stumbled upon the display this morning and spent the day casing the place since its how I work". She flipped open her device to share her findings,"I figured if this was like jobs in the past the case will be a simple lockpick operation. But at the same time knowing this place and after video gate I planned for everything" lifting the bag that would hold the guns.

"Woulda just busted th'glass m'self," he admitted. But then, "subtle" wasn't exactly in Jayne's vocabulary. He didn't do subtle well, preferring to take the straightforward, charging approach to things. He grinned, and reminded himself this wasn't his gig; he was just the back watcher.

Once they stepped outside though, he did try to keep an eye on their surroundings, just in case there was something going on right now.

Keeping one hand over his gun, Jayne started directly toward the mall, since that was where their goal was, and he saw no point in dilly-dallying around.

As the pair went into the mall Parker's eyes lit up when she saw the lazers by the display of guns. "Knew it" but ideas where flying around the younger woman's brain and it showed. "Looks like I have lasers to flip over but that's nothing new" she decided, gaging distance and angle of what she would have to do as she spoke.

"But you and Eliot would get along great, he would have picked just busting the glass as well" she confessed. At the same time she did wish Eliot or Alec was around, the advice would be helpful.

Jayne grunted slightly. "Ain't a lot of people get along well with me," he admitted. He tended to mouth off, wasn't exactly the brightest bulb in the shed, and was apparently too prone to wanting to lead things he shouldn't. He'd ticked off Mal often enough with his mouth.

But he had to admit he was a little curious about this person she thought he'd get along with.

"Sure," he agreed to her assessment of the situation. It was a little different than what he was used to, but if she knew what to do, he'd leave her to it.

Meanwhile, he set about doing his own job. Drawing his gun out of the holster, he started to move around the display area, keeping an eye out for anything that moved or anyone who looked inclined to interfere.

"Just give me room" as Parker slipped off the bag to get a running start. She took off and used every trick in her playbook (mostly backflips, a few splits, a back walkover and a handspring) before landing at the display. "Once I get this lock picked I'll send the guns under the lasers to you" she called, hoping her idea was making sense.

Jayne watched and kind of shook his head at the acrobatics. Seemed like it would've been easier to just shoot the cases open, but hell, what'd he know?

Once she was ... inside ... or whatever ... he nodded. "Sure," he called to acknowledge he'd heard her as he continued to circle the place to make sure nothing was going to come at them.

Parker nodded an ok as she went to work picking the locks on the case. The locks looked to be from her world so she made quick work of them and started sending rifles under the lasers to Jayne. "Incoming guns!" she called as a heads up. Her next mission would be the second case with the grenades,"Next stop, the case with the grenades and if you see any ammo lying around grab anything that may be useful. People put in for 9mm, anything police issue, a shotgun if one is around and anything that may just come in handy" she added.

"Figured I'd just grab whatever I saw, let 'em sort it out later," Jayne said. He reasoned the area was clear and wondered why they'd bothered with any sort of set up like this, but who the hell knew, with what else they'd been doing.

Not that Jayne had seen any ammunition of any sort, and he thought it'd be a kick in the pants if the guns didn't have any bullets, and the grenades were all duds.

He started to shuffle the guns together, wondering who was going to lay claim to them. Maybe he'd take one for himself, if no one needed a rifle. That made him wonder if the bullets he'd found earlier would fit one of these guns - they all looked to be slightly different models to him.

Shaking out of his thoughts, he spied the bag and started to stow the guns in that.

As Parker sent the last of the guns under the lasers to Jayne she had a brainstorm of sorts. "After seeing some posts on the network maybe we should grab anything that can be useful period?" as she took off for the second case,"Plus you know how to store grenades till we can get them to the hotel? This is a new one for me." she was being honest. "But you're onto something too, you see things in a different light so two sets of insight comes in handy too." she offered.

"Well, what counts as useful? I mean, hell, anythin' here could be useful in th'right situation. We play by that rule, we'll bring th'whole mall back in with us."

Jayne shifted some of the guns around, keeping an ear out for any sounds that weren't their own. Shaking the bag slightly, he managed to get them all settled in.

"I c'n store grenades j'st fine," he promised her as he eyed the case eagerly. He recalled a situation or two in which he would have liked to have had a grenade or three in hand.

"Right now just about anything we can carry, I'll make one more run in the morning as a just in case." Parker called. She flipped over to the second case and went to work picking the lock,"How do you want me to send them over?" she called.

"Uh, I would guess ... very carefully," Jayne said, because the very idea of a grenade blowing up in this small area very near him was not at all appealing. "J'st so long as the pins stay in an' y'don't bang 'em around too hard, should be fine," he assured her as he shifted the bag around to make sure there was room. The first four were going right into his pockets though, that was for damn sure. More, if he could fit them.

He glanced around once, listening for a moment but ... he heard nothing. He didn't for a moment think that didn't mean he was being watched though. He was pretty sure he had their number. They were probably very curious what was going on here with this shiny weapons stash.

Parker gaged the distance and called,"Would rolling them under the lasers work if nothing comes out?". She easily picked the locked case and went to sending the grenades over to Jayne. But something bugged Parker, normally when she was on a job there would be noise. Ok some of the time it was Eliot going after random goons but it was still needed noise for her.

Plus she was hiding the fact she was about to start running on fumes. The raids were helping but for how much longer could she hide?

"Guess it'll have to," he grinned as he started to catch the rolled grenades, shoving some into his pockets and glad for the weight of them before he started to shuffle the remainder into the bag.

Seemed like a ridiculously elaborate setup, but apparently they were working for their cookies, such as it was.

He wondered who all'd be laying claim to the grenades, and wondered if Mal was going to make him share ... then wondered if Mal had any power to do that, now that he wasn't in charge.

He didn't think LIly or Tyler or Jaime was going to have a problem letting him keep his toys, and he kind of grinned at the thought of it.

Parker had been thinking, it was like they knew she was a thief and even how prior jobs worked. "Sending them your way!" she called to Jayne as she sent the last few under the lasers. "Only thing missing besides a few goons and Eliot going after them is the noise, being part of a team." she mused aloud.

"I hear that," he muttered. Most of their jobs had involved significant gun fire, so having a job like this, quiet, with nothing to shoot at, was weird for him. Not that some of their jobs hadn't involved sneaking without guns, though his mind shied away from thinking too hard about Ariel. That had nearly gotten him killed, and he was still a little skittish of River because of it.

Which made him wonder suddenly where she was and what she was up to, and why he hadn't heard much from her lately.

Once he'd packed away the last of the grenades - the very last one winding up in his pocket - Jayne zipped up the bag. "Set if you are," he called to her.

Parker made one last sweep and grabbed a couple of small boxes of ammo,"All set now!" she called. She easily went under the lasers to make it back to Jayne,"You know maybe if things were different our teams would get along, Eliot would have been al over me about having backup but annoyed about nothing to hit." she confessed. "But for now find anything else that could be turned into a weapon?" deciding aganst asked about what Reavers are (ok, it sounds like something from a movie of Alec's to her).

"I ain't much for ... utilizin' the surroundings for a weapon," he admitted. If he ran out of bullets and there was no one there to hand him more, or another gun, he usually beat a retreat to come back around later if it seemed profitable. Jayne didn't care for fights that didn't promise some sort of profit, even if that was simply the satisfaction of a win.

"But if you see somethin' you c'n use, I ain't gonna stand in your way."

He shouldered the bag and shifted his grip on his gun, all set to head out whenever she was.
