Characters: Captain Jack Sparrow, Open, would love Elizabeth
Time/Date: Monday, 2pm, July 12th
Location: Room, then the Lobby
Warnings/Rating: PG, Possibly PG-13
Summary: Cpt. Jack finds himself in a new environment and wants to go exploring...
Status: Open, Ongoing

Afternoon sun streaked into his room, waking the Captain from his drunken stupor.  He was dressed in his typical pirate attire, his black pants, white undershirt, black leather vest, duster, and hat all slightly skewed by his curled position on the bed.  "When was the last time I slept on a bed?" he asked himself, bewildered as he brought a hand up to his face to block the sunlight.  He stood and stretched, walking towards the sunlight to figure out what time it was.  About 2pm if he guessed right, and Jack was fairly good at telling time by the sun's position.  He smirked, pleased with himself, before he glanced around the rest of his room.  Definitely not his hammock aboard the Black Pearl, or the uncomfortable wood desk in his office aboard the ship either.

So where was he?  A hotel, it seemed, and an island to boot!  He may just get a chance to sail while he was here.  Jack wasn't one for putting too much energy into wondering.  He'd much rather be wandering, which was exactly what he set out to do.  He straightened out his clothing, checked to make sure his sword, pistol, and compass were all in place, and walked right out the door.  It latched behind him, and Jack turned, reading the number 307.  His room.

With a spring in his step, Jack walked away from his room and found the stairs.  He took them two at a time, practically bounding down the stairs and exited on the ground level, walking into the lobby as he whistled a tune.   People were strolling around, people he had never seen before, dressed in clothing he thought was indecent for a classy woman, and instantly assumed he had died and gone to hooker heaven.  With a grin, he plopped down in one of the few chairs in the lobby and watched the people as they walked by.

Jaime was dodging Dug. Not that she would ever admit that she was dodging Dug, but honestly ... he was a nice dog, but chatty as anything. It made her wonder if normal dogs were that chatty ... and if they had collars, everyone would know about it. She'd managed to slough him off onto Lily for a bit, and she figured they were probably playing fetch in the mall.

She herself was running ... well, a patrol. Scoping out the area to see if anything was amiss, or if anything was new, or if anyone was around that she wanted to chat up. Lily thought it was a good idea, to kind of keep an eye on things as the three of them - her, Tyler, and Lily - sort of were becoming ... well, focal points for the group.

Slowly but surely, anyway, and Jaime wasn't completely sure she wanted that sort of responsibility. Or whatever. But they'd bonded, and Lily had been here first, so it seemed sort of like a package deal.

As she crossed through the lobby, she noted someone new (well, new to her, which didn't always mean new to here) on the couch. "Hey," she greeted with a little smile. "New here?"

She had a feeling she - and everyone else - was going to get very, very tired of that phrase.

Jack was bored within minutes of deciding to watch people. They were just so...boring. So he changed the game. Who looked as though they knew what was going on? It wouldn't hurt to get some answers while he was waiting for a familiar face.

A woman approached him, one that clearly caught Jack's eye. He looked her up and down appreciatively, as he typically would. "Just arrived this morning," he replied with a shrug. "Not really sure where here is. You wouldn't happen to know, would you love?" he asked, his accent slightly out of place talking to this lovely female specimen.

Jaime was not oblivious to the checking-out, but she opted not to comment or react. It was probably the same sort of 'well, you're interesting and not like the people I usually hang out with' sort of checking out, anyway. Not like she hadn't done that a bit herself from time to time.

"I ... know about as much as anyone else," she admitted with a little shrug. "The long and short of it seems to be that we were kidnapped to be observed, and the people who kidnapped us seem to enjoy throwing odd curveballs at us. Presumably to check our reactions to them." She shrugged lightly.

"There's been incessant children's music, non-stop children's programing, odd smells, and nightmares that I'm aware of, not to mention the various traps I've heard of on the other side of the line. I haven't personally set any off." She paused. "Oh, right, then there was the heatwave immediately followed by three days of snow."

Jaime nodded slightly. "So no, I don't really know what's going on here, or what the end game is, but I do know it's a ... very ... lovely place to be."

Jack listened with rapt attention while still appearing completely disinterested. She seemed frustrated and at a loss for any kind of explanation, which he could sympathize with. It wasn't every day that one woke up in a completely unfamiliar place.

"Lovely isn't the word I'd use, love. Considering there's no rum, I'd say this place was closer to hell," he replied with a shrug to match her own.

"And, I've misplaced my ship it seems. I just commandeered it, too. What a shame. What a pain," he complained airily. It shouldn't take him too long to get his ship back though, so he wasn't too worried.

"Do you know where I can find some rum?" he asked hopefully, completing the look with large puppy dog eyes. It worked only half the time, but it was obvious he wasn't anywhere near home.

His ship? Jaime quirked a brow slightly, but ... why not? Jayne lived on a spaceship with Mal, River, and Kaylee ... and some other people who weren't here. She was going to guess though that this guy meant water ship as opposed to space ship. Mostly because he looked more ... water-shippy to her. "Not ... very likely you'll find a ship here," she said. "Sorry."

There was a vaguely nagging stirring of memories; hadn't Lily met a water-ship captain too, earlier on? Maybe not. There'd been so many people, it was hard to keep everyone straight ... so she shrugged it off and let it go.

"There's a bunch of alcohol in the kitchen," she offered with a gesture toward the aforementioned place. "Probably some rum. Definitely vodka," she said with a nod. "If there's not any left there, you could try the store by the gas pumps. I didn't see any, but I wasn't really looking last time I went in."

Jack was slightly scandalized by the improbability of finding his ship, but quickly got over it at the mention of rum being in just the next room. "I've no idea what vodka is, but if it gets me smashingly drunk, I'm all for it," he replied with a wink.

He pushed himself up off the chair and turned to her. "Captain Jack Sparrow, at your service, ma'am," he introduced himself gallantly, taking his hat off and bowing in an overly exaggerated manner. "Would you care to accompany me to the kitchen for this vodka you seem to know of?" he asked with a grin as he righted himself.

"Really?" Jaime blinked, but ... she'd run into enough different backgrounds here that she supposed she shouldn't be surprised that he hadn't heard of it. There were enough things that others brought up she'd never heard of, and she was pretty sure if she started going off about mutations, he'd be utterly lost.

Culture clash, and all that.

"Jaime Davies," she replied with a nod in return; she wasn't much for bowing. "I'll point you at it, but two hangovers in a row really aren't making me itch for a third," she said as a slight grin crept across her lips.

Turning away, she cocked her head toward the kitchen and started in that direction. Sweeping out the footstool from under the sink, she climbed onto it to shift aside the bottles on the upper shelf. There were enough youngsters here that she really didn't want the alcohol where it was obvious and easy-access. Passing down the bottle of rum to him, she added a bottle of vodka to that as well before turning to seat herself on the counter, legs dangling above the footstool.

((Sorry this is so late...haven't been feeling well))

Jack grinned as the lady introduced herself. Jamie Davies. It was a beautiful name for a beautiful girl, and she drank too, which made her even more appealing to Jack.

"Well, whenever you are looking for a hangover, you really must come find me," he said smoothly as he followed her into the kitchen. He waited to the side a bit while she pulled down the bottles. They didn't look like anything Jack had ever seen before, but he took the bottle labeled rum and opened it. He sniffed the contents first, slightly put off by the unfamiliar smell, before putting his lips to the top and tilting his head back, taking a nice swig.

"Not bad, I suppose, but certainly not rum from Port Royale. They're rum was some of the finest I've ever had," he commented a bit flirtatiously. He did the same with the vodka, but ended up coughing after taking the swig. "That tastes like turpentine!" he exclaimed unhappily. He took another swig of rum to wash the taste out and cradled the open bottle in his left arm. "i'll be keeping this," he informed her.

"No, I suppose they've ... made some changes in the refining processes or whatever. I'm sure it's not the ... the same stuff you had back in your time." Well, she was assuming, at any rate. He definitely didn't look like he was from around her time.

She had to grin when he made his declaration in regard to keeping the bottle. "I don't think anyone'll mind," she said before pausing thoughtfully. She wondered if he'd be interested in trying a rum-and-Coke, then doubted it. He didn't really strike her as a mixed-drink sort of guy.

"So, any grand plans while you're here, aside from drinking?" Jaime inquired - though she doubted it. What sort of kidnap victims really had "plans", per se? But she was curious if he was going to eventually try to make a break for freedom, or if he'd be content to just ... hang around and be drunk.

"Why change something already delicious?" he muttered to himself as she said she didn't think anyone would mind his taking the bottle. As if they had a choice. Ha!

"Why, m'lady, I always have a plan. Sometimes it takes a bit more drinking to get them planned out, and a crew of course, but I doubt Will and Elizabeth will be getting here any time soon. Those lovebirds and always late," he informed her a bit whimsically. "I've no thoughts of escaping, and most likely wont entertain such notions until you've run out of rum," Jack added decidedly.

"What of ye? Have you tried to escape?" he asked curiously.

Jaime thought Elizabeth rang some distant bells, but it wasn't as though it was a horribly uncommon name. Still, she was fairly certain Lily had mentioned meeting one ... but the odds of it being the Elizabeth he was talking about were kind of astronomical, right?

Or maybe not. Maybe people who knew each other were being pulled in ... together-ish. It was almost enough to make her wish she'd gotten close to people back home.

Deciding not to mention it so she didn't raise any false hopes, Jaime shrugged slightly and moved on.

"I haven't, personally." Oh, sure, she'd made a couple of attempts to 'find' her way out, but they'd resulted in some weird backfiring that gave her horrific headaches - so she hadn't tried since the second day. "Some people have tried to cross the line, but as far as I'm aware, it didn't end well for any of them."

Jack shrugged. "I guess I'm stayin then," he replied, taking another swig of the rum. It was starting to grow on him, which was nice.

He glanced down at his decidedly pirate outfit. "Would you happen to know where I can find some new clothes? I think I need to blend in a bit more," he asked with a charming smile. "And how to go about buying them?" Didn't want her to think he was just going to steal them. That way, when things turned up stolen, Jack wouldn't be a prime suspect.

"Good call," Jaime advised with a solemn nod of her head, though she was grinning a little.

When he mentioned finding clothing - and made a point of mentioning buying - she giggled outright. "There's ... not really a buying or bartering system here. Appearantly, our kindly captors have seen fit to provide us with food and clothing in exchange for our unwilling participation in their sadistic mind-games." Not that she was bitter or anything. Heavens no.

"That said, if you head out the front door and angle to the right, you'll see a giant brick-ish building. That'd be the mall. There're a few different clothing stores in there. And if you step outside and look to your left, you'll see what used to be a gas station, and that's where you'll find food that isn't ... already in the kitchen."

No barter system. Now that was an interesting notion. Jack was intrigued at this little tidbit of information.

"I take it they've been quite mean to you, lass," Jack noted, catching her tone. She seemed pissed off. It kind of reminded him of Elizabeth when she was pissed, and that thought made him want to run for the hills.

"Thank you for the directions," he added, committing them to his memory as he took a healthy swig of rum.

"Not me, personally. Not yet, anyway," Jaime admitted. "Or rather, they haven't singled me out for anything." Well, there'd been Dug's nightmares, and the rat noises in the wall, but otherwise ... she hadn't really been singled out.

"It's just the general idea of things. That they can swipe us and ... attempt to placate us with nice rooms and clothes and try to make us forget that we're just fancy rats in a gilded cage."

She shrugged a little, watching him with the rum and she couldn't help but wonder if he could really hold his liquor, or if she'd find him passed out somewhere outside. A little grin crept across her lips before she shook it off.

"So, right. If ... you need anything else...we're pretty easy to get ahold of. We might not be able to help, but ..." Jaime shrugged.

"I'll keep you in mind, love," Jack replied with a sexy smile, holding the rum bottle effortlessly. She seemed a bit...bitter, and well...Jack wasn't really too fond of bitterness.

"Thank you for all your help, and if you happen to run into an Elizabeth or Will Turner, I'd kindly appreciate it if you'd send them my way," Jack added, before tipping his hat to her and walking out of the kitchen.

He chose to wander the streets, content to drink the bottle though it didn't last very long. He felt quite loose and without too much thoughts swirling in his head, he was able to enjoy himself.
