It wasn’t entirely surprising to find that there had been so-called contraband on the ship considering it seemed exactly like something the scientists would decide to do. Charles was a little surprised for it to come to light so soon into their travels. This sort of trick would have been much more effective later on down the road when they were actually nearing their goal. At the onset it did little more than cause an annoyance for all involved. There had been no comraderie built up among the crew though and the chances of any of them coming to his rescue; aside from perhaps Bucky--and he didn’t truly believe in that young man’s ability to manage simple tasks by himself most days. The fact that it had been stacks upon stacks of that blasted cornbread cake monstrosity that had been found inside of the ship made the entire matter even more laughable. He truly hoped the others were not watching this back at the Institute. Charles was certain he’d never hear the end of it about his current circumstances. Though, technically, so far, this journey into space was on par with his previous ones, though there was significantly less Shiar present than usual. Hopefully that wouldn’t change in the meantime. But he had books to read and food that wasn’t cornbread cake or ration packets. And while the cell might be rather small and fairly dingy, perhaps he could simply remain in it for the duration of the experiment. It seemed far comfier than hurtling through space on a ship controlled by children or whatever else the scientists might throw at them. |
