The Jedi had an interesting relationship with time because it, like everything else, was connected through the Force. The past reached forward and the future back in ways that made the flow of time often hold in on itself in both comforting and unpleasant ways. Only the worse history every seemed apt at repeating itself. Ben was afraid of tomorrow, now, because he'd failed so horrifically in the too recent yesterday, and he wondered if he was even capable of still being the person that Bail might miss.
But he could pretend, at least for a while, that things were easier than they were. That being here, plucked from Tatooine and dropped in this strange senseless place, was what had set him off-kilter more than the dreams about Anakin, the visits from dead master Kenobi and the way it feels to try and brush sand from your own teeth.
