Conditioned responses as an evolutionary trait make sense because they're a survival mechanism left over from our time as a hunter-gatherer society when humans were not necessarily the apex predator. It's why fear is a functionally positive response and all the chemicals associated with fear are also associated with positive emotions. However, what's dumb as fuck is the Pavlovian response to something as infinitely meaningless as a date on a calendar causing a near phobic reaction. I reject that aspect of my evolutionary conditioning and I reject it thoroughly.
