It's so wonderful to see you all tonight. I've felt so very welcome here, ever since my arrival - and I want to thank you all, each and every one of you, for the welcome I know you'll give to my good friends Janet, Eleanor, Chidi, Jianyu, and, of course, Tahani, our amazing hostess. They're all very important to me, and while I wish they'd been able to stay forever in the neighborhood I built just for them, I know that here - here, they'll have almost as many watchful and kind-hearted friends. Even if none of you can build them forty-room Georgian mansions out of actual particles of sublime love.
[pause for laughter]
After all, as Tahani especially - our neighborhood's Best Person, as you can clearly see - as Tahani especially will tell you: material things don't matter. Whether you're sleeping in an antique four-poster canopy designed after a piece out of Marie Antoinette's own personal chambers, or a bunk bed; whether you're eating the calorie-free, full-fat-cream croquembouche that appears magically at your hers-hers-and-hers vanity table every morning, or cafeteria fried chicken; whether your closet is full of every single dress you've ever wanted, or the same sweater that everyone else is wearing - what brings us joy is the people around us. And I know I speak for everyone from our home when I say that we're really looking forward to getting to know all of you.
Tahani, thank you for putting together this really marvelous party, even with such limited resources - and even after what happened last time. Bravery - that's how you get that sash, folks. I know everyone will have a fantastic time. And I know the next one will be even better. Congratulations, beautiful. Cheers to you.
