There usually weren't a lot of other folks lingering out there this time of the evening. But Han made a few trips outside every day just for the fresh air - the fresh air and, to smoke. The one sort of defeated the purpose of the other, but it had been a difficult few weeks and this was all he had. Or, it was all he was going to let himself have, anyway. It would have to be good enough.
He had a spot tucked into a recess on the side of the building where he usually hunkered down for an hour or so before heading back in for dinner, where he could feel the breeze and watch the sky change colors. He'd stopped keeping track of how long he'd been here, stopped bothering with a lot of things, but these little things always did keep him sane. And so he sat quietly, elbows on his knees, watch the glow at the end of his cigarette until a shuffling off to the side caught his attention.
Han had grown up on the streets and he'd been a thief and a smuggler all his life. He knew how to keep from being seen when he needed to. But the moment the girl started to undress, he turned his gaze back down to the ground and kept it there. Ha might not have fifteen, even ten, years ago, but that was then. He didn't glance up again until he heard her footsteps change from the light one-two pace to something a little faster with a distinctly inhuman gait.
"Well, I'll be damned," Han muttered, eyebrows raised slightly as he watched the animal take off towards the trees. That might not have been the strangest thing he'd ever seen, but it was certainly one of the most interesting.
