Jessica noticed the hint of derision in Brigitte's scoff, but it wasn't unexpected; that was a fairly common reaction in people to this particular type of information- though some of them put effort into hiding it. Some also didn't, some were all out hostile; right now, she figured this girl could go either way.
But until the worst happened, there wasn't reason to get her heckles raised. Jess just made a complacent face with a little shrug, accepting the steaming mug from the man behind the counter.
"When you literally can't eat anything else..." She added the thought as an explanation, but let it go from there. Now that she had a name to the face, maybe conversation would improve.
"Don't worry about it," Jess said. "I've been asked a lot worse." Twisting her hip up to a seat at the counter, she nodded to the one next to her. "You eatin?"
