Now out of beer and burritos, Helena knew that she had to get something to drink and food. She'd heard through the grapevine that there was a place to fish, and so she had spent a couple of days trying to find it - to no avail. She had just decided to give in and beg for some food from someone else, when she heard it. It was crying. Not crying from a woman, or even a man but babies crying. Her babies crying. It was so soft, she thought that she was hearing things. As she walked towards the cave, she heard them louder. Oh no. Her babies were in trouble. Little Donnie and little Art, someone had put them in that cave so that she would come to them. It never occurred to her that it wasn't what it seemed.
"I am coming babies.." she called out, as she went into the cave. As she entered, low and behold it was the cave that people had been telling her about. There was a pond and everything. Fish maybe. There were other people too, she thought she heard other people talking. It was all mixed with the crying that was getting louder by the moment. She didn't know if they had her babies, or what the hell was going on, but she was going to get them back, no matter what it took.
"You leave babies.." The words trail off as she never saw what came next. One step forward and it had lunged out of the darkness. Large and slithery, it's fangs sank into her flesh and Helena cried out in pain. That was unexpected. She'd been taught so many things, but never about a snake that could mimic voices. It cried again as it retracted, and for a moment, she knew that she had been lured in there by that.. thing.
Stumbling back, Helena hit the rocks and slumped down to the ground. Poison filled her body. She gasped, unable to catch her breath. It was working fast, whatever it had been. Well at least she had made it this far. Maybe she would actually be able to see her babies again. That was the last thing that she saw before her vision went black.
