WHO: Phryne Fisher (narrative)
WHAT: Lurking
WHERE: Just outside the Cornucopia, towards room C.
WHEN: Evening, Day 2.
WARNINGS: Hunger Games. Brief mention of PTSD (untriggered)
Phryne didn't like this scenario at all. It was reminding her too much of the war. She knew her triggers and so far she was alright. Hopefully nothing would happen to trigger her. She knew she probably would have nightmares though. She could survive. She would survive.
She still had the bag that she had gotten at the Cornucopia which contained a jar of peanut butter (8 oz), a lighter, a full canteen, and a pair of nightvision goggles. She'd drunk some of the canteen of water but had been careful to not drink all of it. She didn't know what the quality of the water in the river was like. Not that she had travelled far from it. If it came to it she could boil it to make it drinkable but she wanted to save her matches for another situation.
She'd found some food - what looked like mushrooms and bananas - in a cave off the room where they had arrived in but she hadn't spent too much time there before heading back to the Cornucopia where she had run into Darcy and Phasma. She'd stayed there for a bit before heading back out. She had wanted to see what was left after the mad rush of everyone arriving.
She hadn't expected anyone else to be there but she supposed she shouldn't have been surprised that others had done the same - or stuck around after - though she would have stayed if she didn't want to risk being injured straight away. She thought she had seen someone die in the initial rush.
She didn't want that to be here.
She had found a stove which she grabbed but there had been nothing else there of use. She considered grabbing a torch but for the moment she hadn't needed it. She would keep it in mind for the future though.
She fingered the mushroom trying to decide if it was poisonous or not. Deciding not to risk it she put it back in her bag and grabbed a banana. Nibbling on it she decided that was alright and ate it. It was good. She didn't want to eat to many of her stash though to be safe. She'd save it till she needed it.
For now though, she needed to sleep. She would figure out what to do tomorrow in the morning.
