______________
Rick left his site to help Helena. She wasn't due for awhile, but something made him decide that he needed to be with her. She had enough help, but it takes a village or some crap like that. He had a soft spot for kids.
He had a lot of soft spots, as it turned out. He spotted a monkey panicking in a nest of vines. Most people were killing and eating them. Even if it was an easy meal, he couldn't get down with the idea of hurting something that was in distress. Then he spotted the caiman ready to take advantage of the situation.
Rick got his scissors out and clipped a few vines, freeing the monkey. The caiman watched but eventually went on about it's business.
The monkey jumped to Rick shoulder, understanding it was just saved from certain doom.
And that was how Rick discovered a huge amount of bananas, hidden in a small cave. He used his twine to pull them together and load them onto his back. The monkey sat in the remaining pile, happily eating one.
