The church never burned practices of actual witchcraft. While it's true that many scientists, advocates for the Enlightenment, doctors, healers and women were brutally murdered in the name of God, it was brought about to combat religious sectarianism. That doesn't make it better, it was a horrible, stupid thing that happened. Much like all sectarian violence is stupid and shameful. But it wasn't a targeted move against witches.
It's not important to me. But I also don't think true separation between the two really exists, either. Not so long as politicians use scriptures to back their plays. That said, I was the elected head of a state before I came here, which I think qualifies me for a position on the council. But I'm also slightly religiously affiliated. I'm the Pope.
