I'd like to say, publicly, for everyone here to witness, that I'm sorry detaining Pietro and the resultant detention of his sister, Wanda, last night. I take full responsibility for it as the leader of my block in this scenario. I'd also like to apologize for my knee-jerk reactionary aggression towards Pietro yesterday. It was bad of me, to say the least, and I feel genuinely remorseful for it.

I won't make excuses and I won't shift the blame. I take full responsibility as it was my call to make. But any name cleared is a good thing in my opinion, if there's even the smallest hint of suspicion surrounding that name. I am sincerely glad to know that Pietro is innocent and I'm relieved to see that the accusations were wrong.

Pietro - I'll be in the lobby if you'd like to, man to man and brother to brother, come down and shake hands and put this behind us. Water under the bridge. We're both bigger than this, better than this, I know that and you know that. I'd just like to tell you that I'm sorry to your face if you're willing to allow that. It's all on your terms now, though, and I accept whatever judgment you make.

And to Max -

[OOC: The Hebrew reads, "In the facades we put on for others we demonstrate our potential; through our children we reveal our reality," and is from Rabbi Lawrence Kelemen's To Kindle a Soul.]

Fair enough.

Did Charles pass my message along?

I think it goes without saying that it wasn't personal. It had nothing to do with being foreign, with race or religion. I'm Jewish, my old lady is Muslim, from Iran. I think if anyone has even a hint of suspicion around them they need to be looked into sooner rather than later for the good of the whole. I like Pietro. He's cocky and he's got a big mouth, but I like that in a person.

That said, if you need to hit someone, if you need to take your rage out on someone, I'm a big guy and I can handle it. Take it out on me. That's my deal. You hurt me over this, no one else. It's my responsibility and I'll take it.

And just so you know, someone came to me asking me to detain you and I told them to fuck themselves.

Yes, I am well aware how easy it is to sacrifice individuals out of fear in the interest of the greater good. I have no interest in hearing your justifications or assuaging a quisling's guilt over complicity. Your actions speak for themselves.

Mine will as well.

You assume an awful lot.

I'm not afraid of Pietro, and I don't feel guilty. I own it. I'm sorry for any hurt or misunderstanding it caused, but I don't regret having him detained overnight because it means that he's cleared of all suspicions and he can resume talking about playing kidnapping games with his sister's dolls as much as he pleases and no one has any further grounds to question him on it. I'm glad I did it because it removes any doubt that anyone might have ever had in him in this scenario. What I have remorse for, however, is the knee-jerk aggression I showed towards him because I was hurting and I felt his words were cavalier and that he wasn't taking the situation we're in seriously enough - which had absolutely nothing to do with his being a suspect or not.

You can think whatever you want about me, I don't really care. But it says more about you than it does about me that I'm offering myself to you here, as the one responsible for this, and you're still choosing to take it out on innocent people. The measure of a man, I suppose. Which is fine by me. Doesn't really make any difference in my book.
