AUGUST: In August Rothstein's defense -- and he'd been married to a lawyer, he knew all about defense -- he was well and truly trying his best in this "assassins" pretend-game, despite how low it ranked on his order of priorities. Overdramatic misery and the drudgery of his workload was occupying all of his thoughts. Consequently, Assassin lay somewhere far beneath "process expense report for week of July 12", yet somewhere slightly above "call maintenance about defective office chair" -- he was planning on stealing one from Pritchard to solve that particular issue, anyhow. Martin had been his first consideration, but that man would probably notice the difference in seating comfort and then go into a fit of hysterics. Lydia, on the other hand, might just be absentminded enough that he could get away with it... |
