There wasn't many occurrences when Marlene actually got scared, sure, she wasn't as courageous as a Gryffindor, but a frightened Marlene McKinnon was a rare sight. But, the display at Quidditch was also a rare sight. Like her fellow students, she had watched in horror from the stands as everything had unfolded. The way both Callum and Oscar trapped the poor girl in between them, beating her off of her broom had made her stomach drop. Obviously, she knew that it Callum couldn't do such a thing, so she instantly thought that it it couldn't be her Callum, but she had sat there and saw it with her very own eyes. Instantly, like the majority of the teachers and her fellow students, she knew something was off. And shortly after, her suspicions had been confirmed through the whispers of the castle.
After the students had been given orders to head back to their dormitories, she almost bit Rose's head off when she demanded she wanted to linger around to see what happened. However, after her friend had talked some sense into her, she had headed up to the Hufflepuff basement and stuck there for what seemed like forever. She couldn't shake the feeling of being terribly pissed off. Some prick had done this, and they were most likely going to get away with it because there was no evidence. It was so unfair. She was terribly worried about the Gryffindor sixth year, but she couldn't help but let her mind wander to Callum. After all, despite what she thought the Ravenclaw did think, she loved him, and knew that he wasn't going to be taking this easy. She knew that somehow he'd find a way to blame himself, and surely enough, his journal entry had confirmed her original assumptions.
Being around Callum wasn't easy. Marlene would happily admit that, but desperate times call for desperate measures, and in Marley's world barging into the Ravenclaw tower was one of them. Callum's journal entry both infuriated her, and even more so, upset her. This wasn't his fault, and it killed her to know that he felt like it was. In many ways, to see him in pain, made herself in pain also, so almost instantly she marched her way up to the portrait hole that lead to the Ravenclaw common room. Of course he said he didn't want visitors but did he really think she would respect that? She was Marley for Merlin's sake. She was stubborn, and thought she knew what was best for everybody, and in this case she thought talking to him was the best thing.
There had been a slight hiccup when she stood in front of the entrance with no utter clue how to answer the riddle that had been presented with her. She wasn't an impatient person by any means, but the whole thing was bloody stupid. What if she had been a Ravenclaw? Did that mean she would have had to wait around for someone to get it right? And what if a person got stuck outside after curfew with no hope of getting inside until morning? Well, Marlene thought it was the most ridiculous thing she had ever seen. Nevertheless, luckily a sixth year showed pity on her. She wasn't unintelligent by any means, but riddles were not her thing. Sure it had been a little embarrassing not being able to solve it, but she quickly pushed that feeling to the back of her mind as she marched up to the dormitories. Reaching the familiar door, her hand reached out for the door knob before she hesitated and brought it to her lips, a little uncertain. However, almost as quickly as she had hesitated, she had become even more determined. Making a fist with her hands, she drummed her knuckles on the door. She waited a few split seconds before she got too impatient and opened it slightly, sticking her head in the gap. "Cal? Can I come in?" she asked as she searched the room for him. Almost instantly she spotted the boy and made her way into the room, closing the door and leaning on it, disregarding her question entirely.
