"Um," John thought about the Americans stopping an alien invasion. It wasn't the kind of plot line he'd ever encountered. "I haven't really seen very many American movies," he told her.
"We only had the BBC in English, so all I ever really watched was Doctor Who. I did go to the theater once a week, but Soviet movies are basically 'America is bad, Communism is good,'" he explained. "Mock away if you want to, it has to be better than what people used to say in the theaters."
Walking to the couch, John closed the box and set it on the table before he took the seat Rory was offering him. Stretching out, he got comfortable as she started the movie.
What would his brother say when he told him he saw a movie that wouldn't be made for another twenty years? John wondered as the opening credits started. Would he even see Mattie again?
All thoughts vanished from his mind as the movie caught his attention. He'd never seen a movie with special effects that were that good, or even one where he could clearly see everyone's faces in a crowd scene.
