Rory shrugged slightly at his quiet thanks, "I meant it. It sucks that he's gone," she said sincerely.
She let out a breath at his grin, calling her smart. "I was at Stars Hallow High. Chilton... so far I'm sort of average," she reluctantly admitted. "She just wants me to have my dreams. Isn't that what parents are supposed to want for their kids?"
Rory made a face when John's back cracked, getting to her feet again. "I'm 5'7"! How much taller do I need to get?" she questioned, wondering what he would say if he could see how her and her mom ate when they didn't go to Luke's, or her grandparents, or even Al's Pancake World.
She followed John into the next room, smiling at what she took to be a media room of some sort from the seemingly endless selection of movies on the walls. Dropping on to the couch she watched as John examined a DVD as if it was Alien technology of some sort, "It's a Digital Video Disc, or DVD," she explained.
