"That's really cool," John told her, wishing again that his dad was still alive. "My dad and I were like that."
"Oh," John couldn't think of anything better to say when Rory told him a more about her family. "You're grandparents didn't support your mom when she got pregnant?" he asked, wondering what could cause a daughter to cut her parents out of her life.
Though he supposed if her grandparents were anything like some of the parents and grandparents of his classmates, he completely understood. Rory was much more down-to-earth than the kids of the wealthy families, and he caught himself once again wondering what her life was like.
