"There's gotta be a way out," Rory insisted confidently when John said 'if we leave.' Not that she had a clue were it was.
"Yeah, mom grew up in Hartford," she nodded, "but I'm sure you'd remember meeting someone with the name 'Lorelai' before... it's not exactly common," she pointed out then thought "but maybe you haven't met her yet."
That Twilight Zone reference was sounding more and more appropriate... and freaking her out more and more.
"Early '90s, I think. I was still pretty little... didn't really grasp what was going on at the time, you know?" Rory shrugged, "Short version is the Cold War ended. Yay for no more nuclear missiles being pointed at Russia and the USA." She smiled, trying to lighten the tension she now felt in the room. Economically it wasn't the best thing for the Soviet Union to start with, but as far as Rory was concerned, planetary safety was worth the growing pains the former Soviet countries went through.
