"No worries," Johnny replied, surprised that she actually seemed concerned about his welfare. He'd never met someone who wasn't scared or intimidated by him at first meeting. "It's my dad's old jacket, and I know it's a little ragged."
He offered her a genuine smile when she began babbling a little, becoming more comfortable with every passing minute that she spoke. It was a nice change to have someone talking to him rather than avoiding him or yelling at him.
"I'm John Casey, or Johnny, if you like," he offered. "It's nice to meet you, Rory."
He was struck suddenly by the words she had babbled about going through a door at school. "Wait, you came here through your school?" he asked, trying to clarify. "I came in through the front door... I'd never seen this house before and was curious."
