It was a far cry from the pitch, but Oliver still felt at home in QQS. He'd spent enough time there over the years and had always been very friendly with the owners. Charles Moringside was a good man and had run QQS for twenty some years after his father passed away, but now with no children willing to take it over and the lure of retirement, it was the time to sell. Oliver had simply been fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time.
His mother passed and left him a modest inheritance. Oliver wasn't ever the type to spend a great deal of money so his years as Captain and Keeper for Puddlemere had helped him to stock his vault nicely. He didn't have to worry about a mortgage on his home and he didn't go on many holidays or anything else that would require money. Once Oliver looked into his finances he discovered that he was quite well off.
So there he stood, outside QQS and debated if he wanted to take the bulk of his savings and invest it into running a shop. Oliver didn't know anything about business, but he was a good leader. He knew about running a Quidditch team and he knew everything there was to know about Quidditch. With the right support staff he was certain he could do well. But by buying the shop Oliver was officially leaving Quidditch. It was frightening, yes, but it was also a relief. Oliver knew that a Qudditch career depending entirely on one's health and well being. He didn't have any plans for his life after he retired. This seemed like a good, solid idea.
He just wished he could talk to someone about it first. No. Not someone. Penelope. Oliver sighed and ran his hand through his hair. Best to focus on one issue at a time.
