Katie had seriously debated the merits of showing up to this event but as the Puddlemere captain, she'd learned she needed to make an appearance. Instead of coming with a date, she'd opted to come alone. It would've really been nice to drag Ali out with her or even George but she hadn't wanted to bother either of them. Besides, with the lesbian rumors going around about her and Ali? Well, probably not a good idea. It had taken a good hour to convince herself to leave her flat in what she had on but she did it. She'd gone back to her trade mark blond locks and had donned a very short dress. Black lace and a skin-tone underlay was really much more provactive then she was used to but her legs looked amazing and she wanted to feel more like herself. It'd been nice to hide under the brunette hair for a while but she was ready to move on and get back to Katie.
She'd apparently come in after Marcus because when she hit the carpet, all the questions had been about him. She'd responded with a smile (that she hoped was sincere) and comment that said she hoped he was happy and that they'd parted as friends. She'd waved and gone inside, taking a deep, steadying breath. She wasn't going to stay long. Put in an appearance and head home. With her height and the added inches of her heels, she could see everything. Taking a glass of champagne as the waiter passed, she sipped on her drink, eyes drifting over the crowd. Spotting Roger, she gave him a small smile, but felt it freeze in place when she noticed Marcus and Astoria.
Reminding herself that she had no right to feel anything about him, she realized it was the first time that she'd felt something more than indifference towards anything and while the slight jealousy and hurt was painful, it was also nice. The lack of emotion that had taken over her since her attack, well, it'd scared her. They looked nice together and that made her slightly sick. But they fit. More than she ever did. Sighing, she finished off her drink and grabbed another. She really should've brought a date.
