"The view is spectacular," she said, politely, glancing out the large windows. She didn't, however, get too close. She had a somewhat irrational fear of heights. Well, it was actually seeing the ground from a high place. She loved looking out over London.
Astoria was a brilliant poker player. She'd seen her friend in action but had never played against her. It had been a long time since she'd played and it wasn't something she planned on starting this evening. After all, she couldn't afford the buy in and she wasn't sure it was proper to clean out one's host. Sipping quietly on her water, Emma gave him a genuine smile as he talked about Ria's talents. They had slept together. He was fond of her and that was nice. She wasn't sure if a man had ever been fond of her. But that didn't really concern her. She had no interest in being involved in any way with a bloke.
"Any bets on the winner?" she asked, curiously. She had no idea how good the others were but assumed bets would be flying on who would pull out the stops tonight and who would bluff the best. It was, after all, an evening of poker and gambling. She felt like she was reaching for conversation. She had absolutely know idea what to talk about. At all. And it was actually frustrating her, for once.
