Who: Penny Clearwater and Oliver Wood When: Wednesday, October 26th Where: The Coffee Spot, Inverness What: Coffee and catching up. Warnings: None, probably. Status: Incomplete
When Penny had owled Ol asking him to meet her, she'd picked the coffee shop deliberately. It was neutral ground; close enough to Orkney that the cadence of the Highland accents would be familiar to him and yet in a predominantly muggle area so that neither would be recognised. She wanted to make sure that the Scot was well enough for herself and had been persuaded out of arriving unannounced on his doorstep. Taking a seat in a corner table, the chair made a loud noise and she scraped it over the scarred flagstones to pull it closer to the faded wooden table. It was almost an aritsan coffee shop; bags of hand-ground beans for sale littered the shelf and the smell of strong, freshly brewed coffee filled the air and the street outside, tempting passer-bys to stop in and unwind from the stress of shopping with a cup.
Penny had held off ordering until Oliver arrived but she looked around, wondering what sort of state he was in. It wouldn't be the first time she'd seen him with bruises or a bloody nose; there had been too many games at Hogwarts for that, but he'd checked himself out of St. Mungo's and she was worried. Concern wasn't something she handled well; Penny preferred to micro-manage and meeting her friend in the shop was a compromise that only a select few could have gotten from her.
And if agreeing to meet Ol somewhere that wasn't heavily involved in his mothers palliative care and ensuring he had some time to himself, then so much the better.
