Katie let Ange usher her inside and wrap a blanket around her. She stared at her friend, eyes blank for a moment as Ange talked to her. "I don't know what to do, Ange," she whispered, shaking her head. "His whole family... all of them. I mean, I know what they were and what they did and what he's done but Marcus isn't that person. I swear it. He's really a good person and he loves his friends and he'd do anything for any of them and now he's just... he didn't even tell, me, Ange. I had to read about it in the paper and he's at Warrington's and doesn't want to see me and I don't know what I 'm supposed to do. Ali's not cleared to play and Warrington's my brother and my boyfriend doesn't want me around and we haven't had sex in... a month and I know I shouldn't worry about all that but I do and I can't help it and I'm so scared for him..."
She looked up at her friend, eyes red from crying, tears streaming down her face. A choked sob escaped her and she sagged against Angelina. "He could be next... his family, Ange. His dad disappeared... he's not even coming to his wife and son's funerals and what about Sam? She just lost her grandparents and uncles. What's going on? Why's all of this happening?"
Katie was cold and wet, her teeth chattering, lips turning a light blue color as panic settled over her. Marcus was safe. Warrington wouldn't let anything happen to him and she'd get to see him some day. He had a match and he wouldn't miss that and maybe he'd want her at the funeral... he hadn't wanted her at Joseph's. He just, didn't seem to want her around and she wouldn't press it. His whole world had just crashed around him and she couldn't help him and all she wanted to do was hold him.
