MINISTRY CAUSES STIR
By Eleanor Bledsoe, G.H.B.I.C.M.
TThe Ministry's most recent actions have some people questioning their intentions. Friday, the Ministry released the official list of those tried for supporting Voldemort during the Second Wizarding War, yet still managed to escape a sentence in Azkaban. Prominent names of society were among those listed and some of the community seems to be questioning the reasoning for bringing up old cases that have long been closed. The Ministry has yet to announce their next step but there seems to be talk of reworking some verdicts on some of the more severe cases.
Doris Elderidge,[pictured] retired member of the Wizengamot, was quoted as saying "The Ministry
is evoking a literal witch hunt. Due to double jeopardy laws, they know that they can't legally reopen past cases in hopes of a new verdict being reached. But by releasing the names of those involved in addition to restrictions currently trying to get passed, these reformed members of our society are practically being thrown to the wolves."
So what are these new restrictions that the Ministry is trying to push through? They've refused to give the Prophet an official statement but one can't help but wonder if, in an attempt to keep another war from happening, they're managing to
create one instead.
Marcus Flint, owner of the Falmouth Falcons, was one of the names released, appearing alongside other such prominent names as Parkinson, Malfoy, Greengrass and Yaxley among others. [See page 4A for the complete list.] Those listed are everything from suspected supporters of Voldemort to registered Death Eaters.
We here at the Prophet want to hear from you! How do you feel about the direction that the Ministry seems to be going in? Any other thoughts/opinions/comments? Send your owls to The Daily Prophet.

MARCUS FLINT SPEAKS OUT
In an exclusive interview, Marcus Flint let us pick his brain about everything from Quidditch to being a Death Eater, including those rumours about him and Puddlemere United Captain Katie Bell.
No one was surprised when it was announced that Marcus Flint had purchased the team that he worked so hard to bring to the top of the League. Falcons fans were supportive of the move, stating that he would continue to lead the team in a positive direction, something Flint himself has said. But these days, Quidditch isn't necessarily at the forefront of his mind.
Many people have been wondering what the Ministry's actions mean for the famed Quidditch Captain, but he doesn't seem too worried. "I've already been tried for my actions. It was a complicated time and the guilt and regret of what I was involved in eat at me every day. Since the war, I have done everything the Ministry has asked of me, including their periodical check ups and required community service," he states.
Flint goes on to tell his story in which [...]
2002-2003 QUIDDITCH SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED
After what can only be described as a tumultuous week of open tryouts, resulting in a historically low number of new players, the game schedule for the 2002-2003 Quidditch Season has been officially announced. The first games begin 15 October with Falmouth v. Portree, Wimbourne v. Wigtown, and Puddlemere v. Caerphilly.
As previously mentioned, despite the lack of additions during open try outs, the team rosters across the board have been changed drastically. Portree, under the direction of their new owner, has an almost completely new starting line up with Roger Davies still Captaining. Puddlemere United has it's new Captain, Katie Bell, and with Alicia Spinnet temporarily off the team, there's no word yet about a replacement. Falmouth Falcons [...]
CURRENT HAPPENINGS
Ever wonder what your favourite members of society have been up to? Look no further. An anonymous reader claims to have the scoop.
It seems that everyone is involved in some sort of drama lately. The world heard about Lavender Brown and Roger Davies' 'relationship' which ended abruptly when Brown miscarried their child. But instead of comforting Brown, Davies ran right into the arms of his ex girlfriend, Mandy Brocklehurst (known for her involvement in the most recent Potion Ring fiasco). Brocklehurst, at the time, was involved with Auror Andrew Kirke who was working undercover on her case alongside Auror Geoffrey Hooper. Brocklehurst cheated on then boyfriend Kirke with Davies just weeks before Kirke's death. Having trouble keeping up? So is everyone else. Brocklehurst found comfort in the arms of Davies after the death of her ex-boyfriend. Meanwhile, Lavender Brown doesn't appear to be too broken up about losing her less-than-functional relationship with Davies. She's been rumoured to be sleeping with everyone's favourite Auror, Harry Potter, who was present when Brocklehurst's ex-boyfriend was killed. At this rate, there won't be a single person over age who hasn't slept with either Brown or Davies (didn't we just see him with Jennifer Summers, the busty, blond Hufflepuff?). However, he and Brown really were the perfect couple.
Everyone knows about Marcus Flint and Katie Bell's 'romance', but did you know that Marcus Flint has recently been seen spending an increasing amount of time with bookstore owner Penelope Clearwater? We all know Marcus Flint only wants one thing from women. Not to mention Flint's newly hired live in Nanny for his niece. Word is she's part Veela. And while Flint is busy filling his life with different women (or just spending his time filling other women), Katie Bell is crumbling under the pressure from her new position as Puddlemere United Captain. Of course, it's not shocking considering her best friend and fellow Chaser attempted suicide recently after the two publicly argued, resulting in Spinnet's quitting the team. While being called an 'accidental overdose', most of the world is skeptical given Alicia Spinnet's questionable mental status over the years. Prior to this incident, she'd most recently been seen with Clint Warrington of all people. Isn't he married?
And to bring it all full circle, Penelope Clearwater recently took Roger Davies to meet the Queen of England. Now, what sort of 'friend' does something like that? Seems like more to me. And given Davies' track record, who would be surprised? Maybe Clearwater will start another Flint - Davies fight. They should really sell tickets this time.
