WHO: Katie Bell and Marcus Flint WHAT: They need to have a serious talk WHERE: Katie's house WHEN: Wednesday Evening RATING: Probably high for language STATUS: In progress
Marcus stood outside Katie's door for a minute, not really wanting to go in. He was exhausted, both physically and emotionally. He really would have just liked a nice quiet night to himself. But after a day full of try-outs, he'd returned to his office where hours worth of paperwork and owls had been waiting for him. It had certainly been an interesting day for owls, that was for sure. He'd received one from the Prophet and Quidditch Weekly, both requesting an interview with him. Those weren't too bad. He was pretty used to that sort of shite and he'd promptly chosen to just ignore them for the time being. He'd get to them when he got to them. Then there'd been another one from the Prophet. He had to assume that the communication between departments was either really horrible, or really mean. This letter had been about how they're currently in the middle of getting legal rights from the Ministry to publish a list of known Death Eaters and they wanted Marcus to come in for an interview to be released on the same day they released the list. Public figure and all that. Well, that one he'd respond to a little quicker than the others.
Then there had been an owl from Ethan. Apparently Joseph's Will had finally gotten opened and Marcus needed to contact him immediately. Before he could, however, the was yet another owl from the Ministry saying that despite the legally binding document that Joseph put together, they were wary about handing over custody of a child to a registered Death Eater considering the current state of the wizarding world. They were requesting a meeting with him in addition to informing him that they were going to need to interview a character witness. Someone he wasn't related to and wasn't in Slytherin house. They'd suggested the oh-so-trusted and super-good-citizen, Katie Bell. Since it was well known that she'd spent time with Marcus lately. Well, he supposed he didn't have to owl Ethan now. He was more than aware what Joseph had done as far as Sam's guardianship. And that was how Marcus found himself outside of Katie's door. He wasn't even sure that he could handle being Sam's guardian, but on the off chance that he decided to go through with it, he was going to need Katie's help.
But the Sam issue aside, he still would have been standing at her doorstep. He'd thought he'd be able to hide his past from her for a bit longer, but between Joseph's death bringing up public discussion about the Flints and, well, the impending outing thanks to the Prophet, he didn't think he could wait much longer. And he would much rather have her hear it from him than from the bloody paper or one of her arsehole friends. Of course, he figured he was risking some sort of injury by standing in close proximity to her but...at some point Marcus had to own up to his past and now was the time to do it. One last moment outside and then he opened her door and let himself in, suddenly hoping that she wasn't home. "Katie?"
