Harry Potter: Who: Harry and Mandy Where: Ministry of Magic, after hours. When: Tuesday evening What: Mandy has a case she needs Harry's help with. Status: In progress Rating: TBD
Harry took only a second to glance in the direction of the clock which read 6:01pm, and then looked back to the parchment he had before him, his ink quill quickly etching its eternal marks into the paper, with his eyes locked on the page as if it were somehow the most important thing in his life. It really wasn't, it was filled with notes--notes that were being brought together from case studies that surrounded him. He had three parchments on his right, five on his left, and more stacked up on the floor. He seemed more than content though, not tired; at least, that was until he found his hand reaching up to rub firmly into his temples.
He shook the tiredness from him, and immediately went back to the mundane work. He was doing half the office's work tonight, helping other Aurors get caught up, figure things out they might otherwise miss. They were all young, and relatively inexperienced. He, himself, was young but he was anything but inexperienced. He saw things that others in his position might not see yet, not until they were better trained. He'd never been a great investigator, but he'd learned over the years what to look for, that not everything was meets the eye, and that even the smallest connections could be vital. Thus the reason he stayed after hours to help out on some of these.
Why? Because Harry felt obligated. It was one burden that never seemed to leave Potter, the desire, the need to help everyone he could. Fact was though, he was beginning to feel bored with this line of work. He felt bad admitting it to himself, but with DE's all but rounded up, and the Aurors becoming stronger than ever before, there wasn't much 'action' of the bigger sort. It was a good thing, and why he was happy with his job; it was just, well when you spent your entire life in life-threatening situations and that was all you knew, you sometimes got a bit agitated or bored.
He looked to the clock, knowing Mandy would be there any moment and grinned. It'd be nice to see a familiar, friendly face and finally have a case of his own again. They'd stopped giving him cases after his last, because they felt he needed a break--but he hated breaks. With Ginny so busy, it was hard to find something to do without work. Perhaps he needed to reevaluate himself.
