Katie had been drifting in and out of consciousness most of the day. Marcus had stayed with her and he'd held her hand, kissed her on the forehead and reassured her that everything was going to be okay. She'd managed to down some broth today but it hadn't stayed down long. The Healers continued to pump her full of nutrients and experimental medication and she was glad she was feeling a little better. Her fever wasn't AS high and even if she couldn't eat, well, she hoped to gain her appetite back one day. She'd drifted off, Marcus's fingers laced with hers and she figured he'd leave for a bit afterward. She didn't blame him at all. The fact that he'd spent most of the week in the hospital with her? Well, it had really touched her. It had made her realize a lot of things. Still, she couldn't address them with him. Not now and maybe not ever. Part of her felt so guilty having him at the hospital with her. Especially with Lavender living with Marcus. That had been... awful to hear. She didn't want to think about it. It made everything just that much more real.
Her sleep had been broken and restless but she didn't really remember waking up. She'd woken up once, not long after she'd drifted off and Marcus had still been there, his hand in hers but the next time, she'd been alone. Her potions were so strong, she couldn't even panic about being alone. Opening her eyes, Katie glanced around, realizing that no one was around. The clock said it was a bit after eleven and she gingerly pushed herself up, feeling exhausted just doing that. Leaning her head back against the pillows, she felt ridiculously restless and the nervous energy was beginning to fill her up. She remembered hearing one of the medi-witches mention Adrian being right next door. Or maybe that had been Marcus. She couldn't remember. The past few days were all a blurry haze. Pushing herself up, her arms weak and giving out just a bit, she managed to sit without falling over.
Staring at the door, it seemed so far away and she wasn't even sure if she could make it but something had her wanting to see her brother. She didn't know what or why but she did. Her feet touched the cold, bare floor, a shiver coursing through her. Katie gently wrapped her blanket around her as she slowly stood up, feeling her head swim with the effort. Nearly crying at the pain she was in, the need to not be alone overcame her as she shakily made her way to the door, using the wall as a brace. Luckily, she was at the end of the hall and she could only go one way. The hall was deserted and for that she was grateful. Katie was fairly certain she wasn't supposed to be out by herself. Or out of bed.
Adrian's room was right next to hers and she managed not to pass out as she made her way inside. A young girl was sleeping on the chair in the corner and Katie realized it was her other sister. Victoria. She hadn't realized she'd be here and she almost turned back but Katie could barely managed to stay up. Her breathing was already fairly ragged and her eyes drifted to Adrian's form. There was an empty bed next to him and Katie nearly collapsed on it with effort, drawing her blanket around her. She was sweating, panting and completely exhausted. Her body trembled and shook but she no longer felt that crushing weight of loneliness that had settled on her. Her godparents had yet to arrive and her sister was going to be on there way with them. It'd be nice to have them around but for now? Well, for now she was going to visit her brother.
