"Well, they don't bite things off all that often. The owls usually have much better temperaments than that," she said. Hannah could talk about her owls all day if someone let her. Not that she was obsessed with them. She had lots of interests. But since most of her day was spent around them, they were just the easiest topic of conversation. But not everyone enjoyed hearing about owls for hours on end so Hannah usually tried not to go on about them for too long. And so Hannah decided not to bring up much else about the owl. She didn't want to annoy Cormac more than she probably already was and that hint of sarcasm told her that they would probably never agree on how the owl in question should be viewed or treated.
She smiled when he called Clint witty. She wasn't sure if he was, really. She'd only spoken to him twice or so through the journals. But didn't he and Cormac both play for the same Quidditch team? "He certainly seems like a nice, bloke," she said with another smile. "And no, it definitely wasn't a nibble. I haven't quite decided on what to name him yet." Okay, well, so much for ceasing to talk about the owl. But he'd asked so it was okay, right?
It was a relief that Cormac hadn't taken offense to the loner comment. She hadn't meant anything by it, really. In fact, she often opted to go out by herself. It was relaxing that way and a good time for reflection. Plus, you always met interesting people when you didn't confine yourself to a certain circle of friends. "That's a very good point," she said happily in response to his comment. "Tell me something interesting about yourself! Did you go to Hogwarts?"
