"Then half the cookie is yours." he said, breaking off a good half, and handing it over to her on the napkin the waitress had given him. He nodded, not speaking as she spoke, chewing another mouthful of cookie himself.
"I take it you're not overly fond of her?" he asked, reading her tone of voice, and the fact that she didn't seem to be viewing the engagement as a positive thing. "Not sleeping? Are you worrying about too much?" he asked, raising an eyebrow at her. Usually when he couldn't drop off, it was because he was worrying over something, whether he was consciously aware of it or not.
