Even though she knew that his words weren’t mean to benefit her, a part of her appreciated the thought, however unneeded it was. Terra knew where she would go, and what she would do, a hundred missions before this one the same exact way. She would be the brute force of the offense, the first to destroy the dozens of lives that stood in their way. It was always the same; the bloodshed was always the same. She listened his words with a silent regard until the blonde general joined her side. Terra knew of her, as she knew of her reputation, something she had seen first hand on the battlefield, and yet she wondered what it was that made her want to stay. She knew that she was one of the most highly decorated of the people inside of Vector, but she knew little else. Rare were the times that the woman spoke to her, or in front of her, like she sense that Terra could hear.
There time together was limited, as soon as they both turned to leave, her commands were issued, the mechanical beast she rode coming to life with the familiar jerks of its metal joints. Soon she would see the frontlines; soon she would destroy lives.
Edgar had taken care of his part of the magitek tune-ups while they were still en route to their destination, choosing now to spend his time in his tent outside of the fray, waiting for when he would be needed again. Unlike Celes and Kefka, he was better served on the sidelines, needed rarely to be used for the brunt of the battles. He was there, if needed, but not necessary. Like most of the others, he had grown accustomed to the skirmishes that called for their magitek armor to end quickly, with minimal loss to their own sides. He, like the others, saw what Terra was capable of when she was commanded – the lifeless doll that was the main asset of their kingdom.
Inside of his cloth quarters, he listened to the orders being given through a device similar to a radio – his eyes narrowing when he began to hear the frenzied yells, calls for help, and then his dusk-blue eyes widened when he heard the sound of his magitek – yes, he would know those sounds anywhere – being torn apart. Metal upon metal, the sound masked by the static. He looked to Locke then, knowing that he would be required to leave immediately – that he and Setzer’s careers, and lives, depended on seeing Terra and the magitek to safety. “They’ll kill you if they find you.” He warned as he left, only casting a fleeting glance to him as he let the cloth door fall shut behind him.
Terra’s hands flew over the controls with an easy grace, navigating the complicated levels to control her hulking armor, but even the quick reflexes she had when controlling it were no match for the speed of the man she faced. She wasn’t afraid of being hurt, or even dying, despite knowing the possibility of it, but she did feel a rush of sorrow when he jumped from where he stood, his sword glinting in the firelight, crushing into her weaponry with an ear piercing scrape of metal against metal. Unable to move, Terra only watched with a stoic expression as the beast she rode began to shake, unsteady on its massive legs.
