Sia had noticed the commotion and when she saw the guard push down the man she decided it was time to do something. She wasn't very courageous but seeing someone being treated this way by someone who obviously was a lot stronger set off all kinds of alerts within her. Although she hadn't been here very long she had already seen to many of the guards misbehave and treat people living here at thesafehouses like shit. Of course this man had taunted them, but that didn't justify violence. Nothing did.
Taking a deep breath she made her way through the people that didn't even dare to form a crowd around the guard and the man on the floor. You can do this. You performed in front of hundreds of people, this is nothing compared to that. she told herself, even though she knew that was bullshit. More people had seen her, yes. But she had just been juggling a few things that burned, all perfectly choreographed. This was different, she didn't know what would happen. And she didn't know what the guard would do to her if she stepped up.
"Hey! No need to be violent, right. Leave him alone, you've had enough time to show your dominance. Look, he's on his back, let's say he's throating and you can release him now." The guard glared at her and she could already feel herself falter, the headache growing stronger with every second. But at least the guard took his foot of the man's throat and backed off. Sia sighed with relief before turning towards the man on the floor. She couldn't believe she had done this. Then again, she had done a lot to help others she wouldn't even consider doing for herself. "Are you okay?" she asked, extending a hand to help the man up.
