Rodeo had a short temper to start with, and it only tended to take a turn for the worse during the summer. The constant heat got to him, gave him headaches and made him irritable and more likely than ever to lose control. Back in Montgomery, Adelaide had done all she could to help him with his summertime blues by keeping his hair trimmed short, and Rodeo had always said that it helped his head breathe a little.
That year, the heat was coming fast. They were barely out of March, and already the sun felt like it blared on his face and the wind blew warm through the city. One day the temperature had nearly reached 70ยบ, and the ensuing pounding at his temples after hours spent welding flash bomb casings for Lilah's project had convinced Rodeo of something for certain: he needed a haircut. He had too much at stake to turn as sour as he usually did during the summers, too many people who he could easily push away by losing his temper every time the temperature got to him. He knew it would still be a long, rough summer, but at least shorter hair would trap less heat and hopefully make some small difference.
"Shouldn't I look at some pictures first? Pick out a style? The Poison look is still in, right?" Rodeo asked Adelaide with a smirk, lifting his hand to ruffle it through the messy locks she was about to cut off. Though Adelaide cut her own hair after a certain point, when she was younger he had often taken her to a small salon in town, where they would give her magazines to choose her cut from and then style her hair for her. She had seemed to love the pampering, and Rodeo still hadn't forgotten taking her there.
