WHO: Bridget and O'Brien
WHAT: Trying to keep her mind off things.
WHERE: NYPL stacks.
WHEN: Mid-afternoon 20 March 2019
RATING: Medium for Bridget's potty mouth.
Bridget left a note on the dry erase board by her sleeping area on the third floor, letting anyone looking for her know where she'd be and when she thought she'd be back. Forty-eight hours ago she wouldn't have even given it a thought but after everything she'd heard about pregnant women disappearing out of the safehouses without a trace along with mothers and young children she started making sure people knew where to find her at all times. Maybe it was giving the bad guys more information too, but it also helped people looking out for her and that was the important thing.
She passed by one of the guard areas on her way down to the stacks and tried to keep her expression nonchalant. Surely the guards weren't really looking at her when she was around them? They all just happened to be at the same place at the same time and she was something different to look at. It was her imagination, that was all.
Nothing to worry about Bridget, nothing at all. She chuckled nervously to herself and opened the door to the stairwell leading down into the stacks. This was access she could have only dreamed about years ago, but now she could go down whenever the mood struck her and browse. This fact always made the library a favorite stop of hers back when she'd actually circulated among the various safehouses. Millions upon millions of books, just begging for her to read them.
